Our banjo teacher has worked across a wide spectrum of the industry and can address all goals and needs you may have in your lesson and across all styles of learning.

Why Learn with BassLine Music?

BassLine Music provides the best teaching instruction in Palm Springs (and arguably the best in California) with opportunities to play live shows at local venues, use professional sound systems, and learn from a classically trained multi-instrumentalist with over 25 years of teaching experience.

Amidst countless positive reviews, one that stands out is from Karen, the parent of a young bass student. “Under Mikael’s direction our son chose to attend Berklee College of Music on a full scholarship.” Post-secondary music schools in the US and across the world have extremely competitive entrance requirements, and generally require more stringent audition preparation than a student can learn by themselves. This is just one of the many benefits gained from learning music with BassLine.

Play the songs you love on the banjo, from folk and rock to ukulele, or learn your own in composition lessons, at BassLine today.

Getting started

The Process

The process at BassLine is pretty simple. Come here as a beginner, intermediate, or advanced banjo student. Our students improve, become the musicians they envision without ever losing sight of the essential, genuine joy that is playing an instrument.

01 — Tell us about your goals

We start by discussing your goals and getting to know each other. You may want to let Mikael know what instruments you can play and which ones you want to improve on.

No matter which genre you’ve fallen in love with, we cater to your interests and work together to get you at the top of your game. Alongside learning the fundamentals, we teach our students the songs they want to learn, so it’s not just educational but super enjoyable, too.

02 — First Lesson

Then we get started with lessons, having fun playing the banjo, and getting on the road to mastering your instrument!

03 — Personalized Plan

Finally, practice is the key to success! Regular lessons with our skilled banjo teacher are paramount to keeping your home practice routine on track.

Testimonials

La Quinta, CA.

I am so happy to have found Mikael Jacobson of BassLine Music to instruct my three sons.

I have a 10-year-old who is learning banjo and guitar, an 8-year-old taking bass and a 6-year-old on drums.

Mikael’s enthusiasm and patience as an instructor is truly remarkable.

He is giving my sons a solid musical foundation while also tailoring his teaching to whatever music they are excited about at the moment.

Right now it’s the Ramones, last month it was AC/DC.

All three boys are making steady progress with their instruments and always look forward to their weekly lessons.
